Community and volunteerism have always been at the heart of everything we do. In fact, it was our founding objective back in 1887 when 14 architects gathered in a restaurant on Yonge Street to establish the TSA. Whether it be our annual participation in Doors Open Toronto, our weekly tours program, or on-demand resources such as the Future Ready Design Guide, everything we do is the result of a community coming together—investing time, knowledge, finances, and effort—to make a tangible impact for their peers, the industry, and their city.
Last week was an opportunity to reflect on this extraordinary community as we said THANK YOU at our annual Appreciation Party. A tradition that started in 2018, this annual event brings together our volunteers, sponsors, and partners to celebrate their contributions the best way we know how: with food, drinks, and good conversation. This year’s event was held at the Centre for Social Innovation, where we were joined by over 140 attendees.
We are so grateful to each and every individual who contributes their skills, talent, knowledge, and—of course—time to making our diverse programs possible, and we’re humbled by the support of so many partners and sponsors across our community. At a time when uncertainty and a tough economic environment have affected our industry and many cultural organizations, we count ourselves lucky to be part of a community that is so generous, kind, and committed to our shared goal of building a better city and profession.
And if you’re not involved yet, don’t forget there is always a way to be part of the TSA! Consider supporting our work by becoming a sponsor or keep an eye out for our fall Call for Volunteers and apply to help out at one of our upcoming initiatives.
Cheers again volunteers, sponsors, and partners—let’s keep building a better Toronto together!
